MDTV Bachelor Degree Curriculum
Aleksandër Moisiu University is the only public Higher Education Institution that offers Bachelor studies on multimedia technologies and digital television. This program was opened in 2012 as a result of TEMPUS RICUM project financed by European Commission. The main objective of “Multimedia and Digital Television” study program is to prepare specialists in the field of Multimedia and Digital Television. Along with the growth and modernization of TV stations and broadcast services, a professional increase in the staff will be required to work in this industry. Within the framework of WP2.1 of DIMTV project, bachelor degree MDTV program at AMU has been restructured and modified based on the needs of labor market in Albania and the region. The courses are organized using different learning concepts by a combination of traditional and e-learning concepts. All the courses in the new curricula will be taught using contemporary teaching methods, such as problem based learning, game based learning, case study methods, etc. The structure of the new study program includes:
- General courses (basics);
- Professional courses (characterizing);
- Similar/integrating training courses with characterizing disciplines;
- Elective training courses;
- Foreign language learning, IT training and practice courses;
- Final Exam/Project
MDTV Professional Master Curriculum
The unique MDTV study program in Albania offered by AMU under the Department of Information Technology is the only one that can provide human resources in this field to cover market needs, thus, to influence the increase of the number of experts and professionals and also the quality in media production. Moreover, according to the employment standards required by many institutions or enterprises in Albania, it is necessary and mostly a criteria to have a Second Cycle Studies diploma. Based on these reasons, Information Technology Department decided to open a Professional Master in MDTV with three specializations as: Image Processing, Production and Post-production, and 3D Animation. The new curriculum was prepared by the expertise of all partner members in DIMTV project and through WP2.2 and WP2.3 activities. Professional Master in this field started in 2018-2019 academic year.

During Kick-Off Meeting at AMU was organized a workshop, where EU partners shared their expertise through presentations related to teaching in MDTV. They gave directions for the courses that may be offered during the professional master (PM) studies. In this workshop discussion and suggestions were done on the improvement of this current MDTV situation. Course types and syllabi was revised and reconsidered during this phase of the project. Dependent on the needs specified in the preparation phase, some new courses were added or replaced with other courses based on EU Partner suggestions and academic staff experience. The MDTV Bachelor degree curriculum was carefully revised and detailed report will be prepared and documented as a result of this activity (Deliverable 2.1.2).
The innovation and development of a professional master curriculum in the field of MDTV started since the first study visit at VSB Technical University of Ostrava. As leader of this package they shared their experience, knowledge and best practices in MDTV education area. For professional master curricula, the three profiles were developed also with the help of University of Tartu and University of Ljubljana. On the other hand, the other three participating WB partners will implement some new modules with specific orientations, in Image Processing Module, Animation Module and Production/Post-production Module. These modules were designed for both increasing teaching and research collaborations within these countries and also EU partners. This work package was completed with the preparation of Deliverable 2.2.2 and MDTV PM curriculum book.
